Our Country Foods IGA Retail Store has the following opportunities:
Level 1 Cashier full time. 2 positions available. Customer Service is our top priority for our cashiers. We expect our cashiers to be extremely friendly, outgoing, and personable. Eye contact, a smile and big Hello for every customer is an expectation and a requirement. Cashiers will be required to learn the layout of our facility and know the location of all products in order to assist shoppers. Our Cashiers are also expected to assist customers waiting for checkout, scan customers items, request price checks, and collect payment. Cashiers are expected to have numerical skills adequate to give change as appropriate and to be responsible for counting the contents of cash register drawer at the beginning and end of shifts. During slow periods of the day Cashiers will be expected to help clean and maintain their immediate work area as well as light stocking and facing of shelves in an assigned area. Cashiers are expected to dress in a manner appropriate to a family retail setting and wear a shirt, jacket or apron displaying either an IGA or Country Foods logo. Cashiers need to be physically able to lift items, parcels and bags with weights commensurate to items normally sold in grocery stores. A successful applicant for our Team will be subject to a background check for criminal activity, and be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening. Wages for a Level 1 Cashier from $10.00 to $11.50 D.O.E.
Meat Department Clerk full time. 1 position available. Our Meat Department is the jewel of our store and the finest in the State. Our department manager is Jedi-level Journeyman Cutter with 40+ years in the business. Come aboard and learn a trade while you earn! A beginning clerk will be required to receive and rotate stock into coolers and freezers, assist with merchandising of product, wrap and package product, clean and sanitize cutting room and equipment at end of shift, and other duties as assigned. A successful applicant would also be eligible for on the job training in meat cutting skills. This is a physically labor intensive job requiring considerable lifting of cases up to 80 lbs. A successful applicant for our Team will be subject to a background check for criminal activity, and be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening. Starting wage for Meat Department Clerk is $12.00 per hour, possibly higher D.O.E. for applicants with prior meat cutting experience.
CFG of Alaska Wholesale facility in Kenai has the following opportunities
Class A CDL line haul driver full time. This position is based in Kenai. The primary duty of this job is transportation of perishable items between Anchorage and Kenai, with occasional trips to other locations as needed. Occasional deliveries to customers may be required, as well as other duties as assigned. We are looking for a seasoned driver with a minimum five years of experience in a Class A vehicle and a minimum of two years pulling long doubles. Applicant should possess a current Class A license, doubles certification, a current D.O.T. medical certificate and either currently hold or at minimum be eligible to receive T.W.I.C.S. credentials for access to secure facilities. Applicant should have a clean driving record with no serious infractions for past 36 months. Applicant will have a working knowledge of and willingness to comply with all current State and Federal regulations pertaining to the operation of a commercial vehicle. Normal schedule for this job is Sunday through Thursday, with a typical shift beginning at 1 pm and ending between 10 pm and midnight. Paid vacation, health and dental plan available. A successful applicant for our Team will be subject to a background check for criminal activity, and be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening, and enrollment in a DOT certified random testing program. Wholesale Delivery Driver/Picker Full time. 2 positions available. This position is based in our Kenai Wholesale operation. Primary functions of this position are picking and packaging of customer orders, and delivery of customer orders utilizing a NON-CDL Commercial Vehicle. We service the entire road system of the Peninsula from our Kenai facility. Successful candidate would also be expected to occasionally help with other aspects of warehouse operations such as stocking, cleaning, customer service for walk in customers, and other duties as assigned. This is a fast paced physical job requiring considerable lifting of boxes up to 80 lbs., moving freight utilizing hand cart and pallet jack, climbing in and out of trucks, negotiating stairs and other obstacles in the course of deliveries. Drivers are required to have numerical skills adequate to facilitate adjustment of invoices at time of delivery. Drivers will be required to wear a shirt and jacket displaying a CFG/Country Foods Logo. Prior foodservice experience is a plus. Applicant should possess a current driver’s, a current D.O.T. medical certificate and either currently hold or at minimum be eligible to receive T.W.I.C.S. credentials for access to secure facilities. Applicant should have a clean driving record with no serious infractions for past 36 months. Applicant will have a working knowledge of and willingness to comply with all current State and Federal regulations pertaining to the operation of a commercial vehicle. . A successful applicant for our Team will be subject to a background check for criminal activity, and be required to undergo pre-employment drug screening. Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position, successful applicant will be enrolled in a random drug testing program. Beginning wage for this position is $12 hourly, possibly higher D.O.E.
